Hubb Postcard

Love. Pronounced: Hubb. حُب

I’ve always loved the beauty of the Arabic language and calligraphy. Over the years, I began experimenting with reinterpreting traditional Arabic calligraphy in my own style, allowing the brush to sweep to the left and create clean, almost Japanese-style strokes that give it a modern feel.

I especially enjoyed painting the word 'love' because it’s made up of just two simple letters—a small word with such a profound meaning. Love is everything, and I’ve always believed in it deeply. This piece is my way of celebrating love in all its forms.

The Arabic language features at least 11 different words for "love," each representing a unique stage or nuance of the emotion within a relationship. The most commonly used term is hubb.
